Ex President Olusegun Obasanjo’s  80th Birthday Overshadows The Celebration Of "Lisabi", The Legend That Freed His Ancestors From Slavery
Lisabi Agbongbo Akala, is a legend of the Egbas – the people of Abeokuta, Ogun state.

The legend freed their ancestors from slavery in prolonged wars with the feared Oyo Empire.

The Egbas – then scattered communities – where under servitude to the Oyo Kingdom.

And in honour of his bravery an annual event, Lisabi festival is staged in remembrance of the man who performed the feat of the gods.

But this year, the birthday of the former president Olusegun Obasanjo , an Egba man took the shine off the celebration of the legend.

Obasanjo hits 80years on March 5 2017.

But already activities to celebrate the influential factor respected home and abroad are on.

The buzz is such that limited space is left for recognising the ongoing Lisabi Festival, even in Abeokuta.

According to commissioner for information Dayo Adeneye forty five serving and past presidents are expected for the 80th birthday celebration of the former president.

The high light of the event will see the commissioning of the Obasanjo Presidential Library.
